Job Summary
Health Workforce Canada is seeking its next Chief Executive Officer to lead the
organization as it addresses critical health workforce challenges today and drives
innovations to improve health care across Canada.
Launched in 2023 and backed by the Ministers of Health from across Canada, Health
Workforce Canada is a young, ambitious, and dynamic new organization with a critical
and focused mandate: transform how people plan for the health workforce (now and into
the future) to ensure sustainable access to care.
Health Workforce Canada is entering an exciting next phase as a catalyst, convener,
partner and transformative force in health workforce planning and policy. Rooted in
collaboration, respect, and accountability, Health Workforce Canada is making significant
strides: advancing workforce data, strengthening planning with robust modelling and
forecasting, and supporting innovative, scalable solutions to close critical workforce gaps.
As CEO, working closely with a skilled and experienced Board of Directors, you will build
on a strong foundation of trust, readiness, and early momentum and success. You will
align priorities and activities to best support collaborators, decision-makers, and
Indigenous partners across Canada’s health care system – strengthening planning efforts,
sharing actionable insights, and advancing equity and evidence-informed practices.
You will lead a nimble, high-performing team that is well-equipped to deliver on its bold,
Strategic Plan. Expanding Health Workforce Canada’s strategic partnerships, sharpening
its focus, shaping its evolution, and championing the use and sharing of data-driven
insights to inform health workforce and health care decisions will fuel your passion for
healthcare and your appetite for intellectual challenge, experimentation and innovation.
As the ideal candidate, you are a dynamic, agile, strategic leader known for building
lasting partnerships, improving systems, and fostering innovation at scale. You have a
reputation for nurturing trust, inclusion, and respect across jurisdictions and with First
Nations, Inuit and Métis organizations. Your diplomatic instincts and sound judgment
make you an influential and credible voice for health workforce issues. You understand
health system complexities and health workforce challenges and bring to the team
extensive experience leading change within large, multifaceted health systems.
As a health care leader and partner, you are equally comfortable addressing issues on the
front lines of care as you are at national tables that intersect health policy, operations,
research, and data. You are energized by big challenges but grounded in execution, lead
with clarity, collaborate with purpose, and deliver with accountability. Your fluency in
French and English would be an asset.
