Health Workforce Canada is a new organization and our vision is: “Together, planning, building and supporting a strong, healthy workforce to enhance health outcomes for all people in Canada.”

Contributing to meeting the needs of Indigenous communities and health workers through our work is fundamentally important. Our work has begun through seeking advice, open listening, and learning from a foundation of cultural humility and investment in building relationships.

In honour of our first National Day for Truth and Reconciliation, we recognize the true history of Canada and commit to making meaningful contributions to reconciliation. We recognize the right to Indigenous self-determination and seek to understand our role in health workforce planning to address priorities of First Nation, Inuit, and Métis peoples. We join with Indigenous-led organizations in supporting Indigenous health workers. As an organization, we are committed to a distinctions-based approach based in meaningful engagement with First Nation, Inuit, and Métis organizations.

By Sept 30 next year, we hope to have made progress in our continuous learning journey toward understanding our role, opportunities, and limitations to inform the best possible contributions we can make to the implementation of the relevant Truth and Reconciliation Commission’s Calls to Action.
